WORLD FESTIVAL ON THE BEACHPALERMO
THE 16th OF MAY 2004 TOMORROW IF THE WEATHER IS GOOD THE RACEBOARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS WILL TAKE PLACE WITH THE OLYMPIC MISTRAL CLASS AS PROTAGONIST Palermo – 16th – May .The closing of enrolement was today, tomorrow the 17th of May at 2.00pm if the weather is good, the races of the Raceboard world championships will begin, organized by the Albaria windsurfing Club, with collaboration from IMCO international and IWA, under the protection of FIV (Italian Sailing Committee) and by ISAF. It will be the first event for the 19th Edition of the World Festival on the beach. The Mistral One Design board will be the main protagonist and like last year in Mexico was chosen by a majority of the athletes enroled. The Italian group are well trained, with two athletes from Palermo in lead, Riccardo Giordano from the Albaria Club and Paco Wirz from the Lauria Club, who is defending his holding world championship title and the european masters title. Riccardo Giordano is among the Italians who will be on their way to the Olympics in Athens, he won his place in front of Paco Wirz, the competition will be good training for the up coming olympic games. Riccardo Giordano will use a Mistral board making this race even more harder and interesting against all those who will be using other performing raceboards. Together with the two Italians, there is also the important presence of Nicolas Huguet from France, who is used to participating in the races at the World Festival on the Beach in Mondello. Nicolas Huguet came third in the last Mistral World Championships in Cesame, and together with his compatriot Alexander Guyader are among the favourites for the final. Press Office
