MORRIS ARRIVES AT THE NEW JAZZ FESTIVAL
A
Whole orchestra on a beach. It will happen tomorrow, on thursday the 20th
of May starting from 8.00pm, in the splendid atmosphere of the World
Festival on the Beach, will welcome on the beach at Mondello, the Sicilian
Symphonic Orchestra conducted by Alberto Veronesi.
The program which has been chosen for this event is very attractive:
the evening will be opened by Carmen Suite the no.1 from Bizit.
Straight after her it will be the clarinet player’s turn, Angel
Jean Cino, she’s the first clarinet player of the Symphonic Orchestra
– and will interperate a very attractive piece from Mozart. The evening
will close with overpowering notes from Gaite playing Offenbach.
The musical director Alberto Veronesi says “The partnership between the
Sicilian Symphonic Orchestra and exclusive well known Albaria Club will
give us the opportunity to listen to the symphonic music in an attractive
and natural place such as The Bay of Mondello.
The World Festival on the Beach involves a wide and variegated
audience, and that is why I chose a program to suit all.”
Those who have evening season tickets for the OSS season may go to the
concert showing thier coupons that are available in this period from the
ticket office at Politeama Garibaldi.
After
the Orchestra’s Concert there will be another great musical appointment,
from the New Jazz Festival. After
the performance on stage in Valdesi Square from Marcia Maria, from Brazil,
tomorrow from 9.00pm Sarah Jane Morris will go on stage, an important name
among international jazz musicians.
Sarah Jane Morris who was a backing singer to Jimmy Sommerville from the
Communards, knew how to become popular with her sophisticated style and
important productions that through time have moved from pop to blues,
until she reached Jazz music. She
has always been inspired by Billie Holiday, her work has often been
produced through the friendship and the collaboration from Marc Ribot, and
from her passion of some great interpreters from the past such as John
Lennon, Leonard Cohen and
Marvin Gaye. Her last disk
Love and Pain was released last year.
She will be accompanied tomorrow by musicians Henry Thomas,
Neill MacColl, Kevin A Armstrong and Martyn Baker.
The artist will play in the two hours of her concert, her songs that have
had the most success.
The evening will follow at the Bier Garten disco, with the third party
organized by the All Night Long club, who organize the parties for the
World Festival on the Beach. The
invitations can be found at the Village in Valedsi Square.
Mauriziotto is the artisitic director.
