Windsurf / Press Release n.15 13 May 2005
XX Edition World Festival On The Beach
Palermo Mondello 11-22 May 2005
ALESSANDRA SENSINI WON’T BE PARTICIPATING AT THE WORLD
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN MONDELLO
Alessandra Sensini won’t be taking part in the the Mistral class World
Championships which will be taking place at Mondello on the 13th of May.
The athlete from Grosseto who has won three olympic medals (bronze in
Athens in 2004, gold in Sydney in 2000 and bronze in Atlanta in 1996,
these last ones under the colours of the Albaria Club) and holds the world
title which she conquisted last year in Cesme, Turkey, continues to stay
away from the big national and international races in this beginning of
the new four years before next Olympics Games in Beijing, featured by the
presence of the Mistral Class called to substitute the absence of the Neil
Pryde RS:X the new olympic sailboard..
For Sensini who was born on the 26th of January 1970 seems to be taking
time out from her windsurfing career, a career that has seen her dominate
Italy and the rest of the world for the past 20 years.
She has a great success behind her with with various Italian Titles, two
successes at the Meditteranean games, five european championships, and
world championships. Her most important challenges were the olympic games
where she participated four times, winning three medals: bronze in Atlanta
in 1996, gold in Sydney and Bronze in Athens where she nearly got a more
valuable medal.
So it’s up to Falvia Tartaglini from Lazio and Laura Linares from Marsala
competing each other in this World Championships in the battle for what
could have been another victory for the athlete from Tuscany who in this
period is resting and might come back again in the future.
