ANOTHER STRONG DAY OF WIND IN MONDELLO, HUGUET AND MANCHON
STILL IN THE LEAD
The best Italians of the day Baffetti and Tartaglini, with the yellow
flame athlete still wearing the bronze medal around his neck
Another day of difficult wind to deal with in the water coming from a
north – east direction, made difficulties for the athletes in the Mistral
Class World Championships, making the competition even more interesting
and spectacular.
The race was held east of the Punta Celesi’s pier, where men and women had
to come to grip with the really strong wind that reached 30 knots, two
races for each category were finished.
In the mens category Nicolas Huguet remains to be leader of the results
that change daily. Ricardo Santos came in second place today leaving a gap
of only 5 points between him and the French leader. Andrea Cariolou from
Cyprus is climbing the classification constantly winning todays second
race.
The best Italian of the day was Dario Baffetti from Lazio with his 21st
place, followed by Alberti (26th) and
Belli dell’Isca (27th) who has come down from 1st to 3rd place on the
podium in the European Youth title.
Infront of him there is Morena Vega, Spanish, and the Frenchman,
Cordonnier.
Blanca Manchon leads the womans category, the Iberian blonde from Seville
with first and second places has an advantage of an 18 point gap between
the athletes who follow her, Amelie Lux, German, and the Italian Flavia
Tartaglini. The Italian athlete from Ostia will need to watch her back if
she wants to keep her place on the podium, the Isralian Lee Korzits is
only 7 points away.
Manchon is still in lead for the under 20’s European Title, whilst Laura
Linares even if she didn’t feel at ease with the strong winds still
clutches onto her virtual silver medal. The French girl Eugenie Ricard
came in third.
