NOTICE OF RACE

Venue: the venue will be Mondello Palermo - Sicily - Italy
3. Event grading: the event is an ISAF Grade 1 event. 
This grading is subject to review by the ISAF Match Race Advisory Board;
The Event may be re-graded where there is clear reason to do so.
4.The provisional programme is:
a) Race office for registration opens on 17th May at 08.30 a.m..
b) Practice and crew weighing will be on 17th May, from 09.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
c) Racing days will be from 18th to 21st May.
d) The time of the first race each day is scheduled at 08.30 a.m.
Participation to the following events is compulsory:
e) The first briefing will be at the clubhouse on 17th May at 18.30.
f) The first meeting with the Umpires will be following the first briefing.
g) Social events: one official dinner with Authorities and Supporters.
h) The prize giving will be held on 21st May after the races.
i) Video interview and Press conference will be held during the Official Dinner and also  in the evening after the race
5. Skippers eligibility:
a) Only skippers invited by O.C. of the Circolo Vela Gargnano and Albaria will be eligible to enter this Event.
b) The designated skipper shall helm the yacht at all times while racing, except in an emergency.
c) All competitors shall meet the eligibility requirements of RRS Appendix 2 “Eligibility code”, regulation 19.2..
d) To remain eligible a skipper shall confirm acceptance of invitation in writing (fax or e-mail).
e) A refundable entry bond of  € (Euro) 800,00 shall accompany the acceptance of invitation for this to be valid.
6. Entries and insurances:
a) The skipper shall be entered on completion of registration, payment of all fees and damage deposit, crew weighing and signature of entry form and disclaimer.
b) Entry Fee: free of charge, the preventive subscription of the engagement is due.
c) Damages to third parties: boats are insured against damages to third parties.
d) Damages to boats, sails and flags: if caused by negligence are not covered.
e) Damage deposit: the refundable bond of € (Euro) 800,00  will be considered as initial damage deposit and this is the maximum payable by the skipper as a result of each incident.
f) In the event of a deduction from the damage deposit is decided by the O.C. it may require that the deposit has to be restored to its original amount before the skipper will be permitted to continue in the Event; any remaining deposit will be refunded before departure at the end of the Event.
7. Rules: the following rules shall govern the event:
a) The current ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), including Appendix C.
b) The notice of race, including amendments.
c) The sailing instructions (available at registration) and any amendments.
d) The rules for the handling of boats, which shall also apply to any practice.
e) An International Jury will be appointed approved by the National Authority, in accordance to RRS Appendix M.
8. Boats and Sails:
a) The event will be sailed in boats “Zip 25 One Design”.
b) 6 (six) equal boats will be provided.
c) The following sails will be provided for each boat:                                           
Mainsail, Jib, Genoa, Spinnaker (to be used in accordance with the S.I.).
d) Boats will be allocated by draw, either daily or for each round as decided by the Race Committee.
9.Crew (including skipper):
a) The number of crew shall be 4 (four) including the skipper. All registered crew shall sail all races.
b) The maximum total crew weight, determined prior to racing shall be 350 kg, when wearing at least shorts and shirts.
c) When a registered skipper is unable to continue in the event the Jury or O.C. may authorise an original crewmember to substitute.
d) When a registered crew is unable to continue in the event the Organising Committee may authorise a substitute, or temporary substitute or other adjustment.
10. Event Format:
a) The Event will consist of the following rounds:  one Round Robin, Semi-finals and Finals.
b) The skippers may be divided in two groups eventually based on seeding ISAF ranking list in force 30 days before: when this occurs, there may be a supplementary round robin, in order to redraw the participants to the finals.
c) The Organising Committee may vary the format, terminate or eliminate any round, when conditions do not permit the completion of the intended format.
11.Course:
a) The course will be windward / leeward with starboard roundings.
b) The intended course area will be in front of Mondello Palermo.
12. Advertising:
a) The event will be classified as Category C in accordance to ISAF Appendix 1 “Advertising Code” and approved by the ISAF and therefore by the National Authority.
b) Each boat will be required to display advertising as required by the Organising Authority.
c) Competitors will not be required to wear clothing or a logo of an event sponsor while racing or at official functions.
d) Any advertising displayed by competitors on clothing (while racing or attending official functions), on boats or anywhere within the boundary of the regatta venue shall be approved in writing by the Organising Authority. Circolo Vela Gargnano and Albaria may refuse to give such approval for any reason including conflicts with another advertiser’s business interests. Circolo Vela Gargnano and Albaria may restrict the size of any advert.
e) Boats shall not be permitted the right to protest for infringements of any rules regarding advertising (amends RRS 60.1).
13. Prizes:
a) The principal prize for final six places will be:
first prize        6’000.=USD
second prize   3’500.=USD 
third prize       3’000.=USD
fourth prize     2’500.=USD
fifth prize        2’500.=USD
sixth prize      2.000.=USD
seventh prize  1’750.=USD
eighth prize    1’500.=USD
ninth prize      1’250.=USD
tenth prize      1’000.=USD
There also may be prizes for all other places.
b) The O.C. may reduce a prize in case of misconduct or refusal to comply with any responsible request, including attendance at official functions.
14. Media, images and sound:
News and services of the Event will be spread by the most important media-TV:
Eurosport (Europe) - SportKanal (D) - Sky Sport  - Stream Digital TV Italy - TMC (M-I) – National Network (RAI – Italia Uno) and moreover on Internet.
The Organising Committee will produce a special video and therefore may require television personnel and equipment to be carried on board while racing and may require competitors to be available for interviews.
Circolo Vela Gargnano and Albaria shall have the right to use any images and sound recorded during the event free of any charge.
15. Invitations and hospitality:
Entries will only be accepted from fourteen, twelve or ten invited skippers.
Hospitality: free of charge for all skippers and their crew from the 17th night to
the 21st May morning.
16. Disclaimer:
All those taking part in the Event do so at their own risk.
The Organising Committee, its associates and appointees, all the sponsors and supporters accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or inconvenience incurred, howsoever caused, occurred to persons and things, both ashore and at water, as for participation in any way.
