THE WORLD FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH 2007 PRESENTATED IN MONDELLO
the 22nd edition takes place,
the festival for everyone
The World Festival on the Beach lives on.
The press conference which presented the 22nd edition of the World
Festival on the Beach was held today on the balcony at Villa Gregorietti,
head office of the Albaria, with the beach and the sea in the
background, the events that were presented were sport and music with
lots more in program. The event will be set up between Piazza Valdesi
and Viale Regina Elena which has two large pedestrian zones along the
beach, this area seems to have already reached its summer period.
From the 14th to the 16th of May the students beach volley tournament
will take place and the official opening of the World festival on the
Beach 2007 edition will take place on the 16th of May coming to an end
on Sunday the 20th of May, amongst the events to take place there will
be the windsurfing competition, the Sicily Grand Prix, the sailing/golf
combination, beach volley, Valeria Zullo will cross the water from
Ustica to Mondello without assistance on her windsurf, and in the
evening there will be various kinds of music, all the right ingredients
to bring together an exclusive menu.
One of the main themes which came up in the press conference was that of
backing up and giving constant support to large historic events such as
the World Festival on the Beach, this was a topic that came up more than
once throughout out the press conference which was held between the
President of the Albaria, Vincenzo Pottino, the President of Coni
Sicilia, Massimo Costa, Palermo’s Mayor, Diego Cammarata, the regional
Tourism Director Dore Misuraca and Palermo’s Sports Director Alessandro
Aricò.

wasn’t able to make it to the press conference sent her regards and
wished all the best for the 22nd edition of the World Festival on the
Beach.
Vincenzo Pottino who is the President of the Albaria said the
following at the press conference today, “ we really do let ourselves in
for a “Mission Impossible”, but at the end like today we are able to
present once again with great enthusiasm an event which has become part
of Palermo and an event that belongs to everybody, we have a great
program which includes the A class catamarans, the moths, boats that fly
on water, beach golf, the Palermo Music Show and a step back in time in
Mondello with seaplanes and a fencing display”.
Massimo Costa, the regional president of CONI Sicilia made the
following statement: “ Palermo has a great tradition in sport and
everything is made possible to maintain this tradition despite the city
having its problems. We need to draw people nearer sport, what the
Albaria does is positive in all means for Sicily, and for promoting
sport amongst the young people of today”.
The Director of the Sicilian Regional Tourist Department Dore
Misuraca wants an opportunity to work along side organisations such
as CONI to make sure that certain events have full sustain from the
institutions for the high level of sport and tourism that such events
can offer.
“The World Festival on the Beach has become a beautiful reality for
Palermo in which the council has fully adopted, an event that has lots
of potential and is always full of new sport and cultural ideas” said
the mayor of Palermo, Diego Cammarata.
The sports Director of Palermo’s Council Alessandro Aricò said
the following “ The World Festival on the Beach is a wonderful event for
Palermo, we need to create a link with CONI, so that such events like
the World Festival on Beach will be easier to organise in Sicily.
