WORLD FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH, THE PALERMO MUSIC SHOW KICKS OFF
TOMORROW WITH SWINGERS, JUMPIN’ UP AND A NOI CI PIACE
VINTAGE PLAYING IN A JAM SESSION
Tomorrow a Jamming Session at the opening of the Palermo Music Show at
the World Festival on the Beach 2007. The stage which has been set up on
the beach will accommodate the Palermo Music Show until Saturday the
19th of May, there will be three different bands all of whom are very
energetic with different kinds of music. The Swingers, Jumpin’ Up and A
Noi Piace Vintage will takes turns in playing their muisic starting from
21,30.
A year away from last years concert held at the World Festival on the
Beach 2006, Jumpin’ Up are back in Mondello, a band from Palermo that
plays swing, blues and rock and roll from the 40’s and 50’s, with jives
being their strong piece. The group is made up of Vito de Canzio, lead
singer, on the guitar Giuseppe Montalbano, Vincenzo Puleo plays the
harmonica, Raffaele Barranca on the sax, Nicola Genualdi plays the
trumpet, Luca Zasa, the piano, Francesco Albanese, on the double bass
and Gianfranco Cavallaro on the drums. They play some Italian-American
music from the good old days that will be well known to the audience
such as “carina”, Buonasera”, “Just a Gigolò” and “Thats Right”.
In the middle of the 90’s swing music came back into fashion, after
being famous in the 30’s and 40’s, and is the kind of music that the
Swingers play, a band from Palermo made up in 2005 by Fabrizio Velasquez,
a musician who has gathered lots of experience in Europe, especially in
England. Velasquez, who is the lead singer and guitar player, will be
joined by the other members of the group, Mickey Mazzola on the sax,
Fabio Piro on the trumpet, Jack Tantillo on the trombone, Charlie Paci
al sax tenore, Fabio Brusca on the piano and percussion, Diego Tarantino
on the double bass e Tony Leta “Boom Boom” on the drums. Pieces from
Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra will be played by the Swingers, reaching
levels of music by Renzo Arbore, Paolo Belli, and the Canadian Michael
Bublè, who has reached the top ten in the charts throughout the world
with his latest album “Call me Irresponsible”.
This year in Mondello there will also be sophisticated music from A Noi
Ci Piace Vintage, a group made from a project by Vincenzo Ferrara and
Dario Sulis, who were already members of the Sun. The band is also made
up of Riccardo Serradifalco, Marco Alessi, Tommaso Chirco and Domenico
Argento. They play pieces from the 70’s and 80’s.
