THE SICILIAN CLASSICAL ORCHESTRA TOMORROW IN MONDELLO
AFTER, AN EXPOLSIVE MIX FROM THE JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET
This will be the fourth time that the Sicilian Classical Orchestra from
Palermo will attend the World Festival on the Beach. Once again there
will be an entire orchestra on the beach at sunset. This will all happen
on Thursday the 17th of May in the splendid atmosphere of the event
which has reached its 22nd year, the orchestra will play at 20:30 on the
beach at Mondello, directed by Alberto Veronesi. The classical notes
will be followed by an elegant cocktail. The director will then lead the
music for about an hour and a half, with intentions to let the audience
come to know and appreciate unique melodies of cultured music.
“ The partnership between the Sicilian Classical Orchestra Foundation
and an exclusive club like the Albaria will give us again an opportunity
to listen to classical music in a natural contest and beautiful settings
such as Modello’s gulf. The World Festival on the Beach with its
multifaceted characteristics, gathers a broad audience, and that is why
I have chosen a program to suit everyone not leaving anything out”, said
the Musical Director of the Orchestra Alberto Veronesi.
To open the evening there will be the Sicilian anthem, and straight
after on stage beside the shore around 70 members of the orchestra will
play “Nabucco” by Verdi, then notes by the composer Busseto with
“Giovanna d’Arco” and “La Forza del Destino”. Then “Norma” by Bellini,
“Il viaggio a Reims”, “La Gazza Ladra”, “Il barbiere di Siviglia” by
Rossini and Mascagni with “ Cavalleria Rusticana”.
After the dignified Classical sounds at 22:00, there will be the
splendid sounds of the Hammond Organ with the British group the James
Taylor Quartet, with James Taylor playing the electric piano, David
Taylor on the electric guitar, Gary Crockett on the electric bass, and
Neil Robinson on the drums. A mix of Soul, Funk, Jazz, Spy Movies,
R’n’B, which will put the audience into a new dimension of music, The
“Acid Jazz”, played by the JTQ brought together in 1985, represents some
of the best of its kind at an international level.
The leader of the band has collected over the years various disks from
artists such as U2, the Pogues, Manic Street Preachers, and the latest
pieces from Tom Jones and Tina Turner.
The first lucky single for the JTQ is “Blow Up” from 1985, the success
of this single lead onto the recording of their first mini album titled
Mission Impossible, in which Taylor’s organ guides them through some
sound tracks of the sixties “Mission Impossible” “Gold Finger” and “Mrs
Robinson”, and pieces of a strong punk-funk impact. They had many great
successes, such as “on the road” and their new disk “The Oscillator”
released just over a year ago, which brings out the sound of the Hammond
B3, the real protagonist of Taylor’s work, mixing soul-jazz, funk and
psycho beat together.
