Tomorrow in Mondello the beach will be the protagonist of the sports program of the World festival on the Beach. At 13:15 the 5 Nations Beach Volley Tournament will begin, and from 16:00 onwards the whole beach will be overtaken with golf mania, one of this years new ideas at the Festival: beach golf, for the first time at the event in Mondello. The strong players from Cuba Alvarez/Munder will take off the Beach Volley 5 Nations Tournament, against them there will be the duo from Brazil Coelho de Brito and Paulao, who was the winner in the 2005 tournament held in Mondello. Italy has Fabio Galli and Riccardo Fenili as players. Also competing there are the Swiss couple Weingart and Sutter, and the Greeks Michaelopoulos/Xenakis. Five pairs will be competing in the tournament. Starting from tomorrow there will also be a woman’s beach volley show, with three couples made up of Italian athletes. The couples Marini/Parenzano, Cuti/Sannino and Nuccio/Freddi will play against each other not exactly in a tournament but in a match that will certainly entertain the spectators. The students beach volley tournament which started on Tuesday will finish tomorrow. Along with the beach volley, the windsurfing program will start off with the first races of the Sicily Grand Prix, which will be valid as third leg of national circuit of the RS:X Olympic class and will present itself with a new open formula so that the best windsurfs at a national and international level can compete against each other in Mondello . It will be a fleet of very different tables competing in the race which will last up until Sunday, there will be the Mistral One Design and the RS:X Olympic Class tables against the Bic Techno 293 of the under 17’s and the under 15’s and the raceboards, it just shows that Mondello and its gulf represent an ideal place in Italy to hold windsurfing races. After the skipper meeting set to be held at 12 noon, an hour later, weather permitting, the first race of the day will take place. There won’t just be Beach Volley and Windsurfing tomorrow, from 16:00 the whole beach will be full of wishful golf players, who with their special golf balls made out of lycron, will try out this new contest on Mondello's beach. There will be 40 players competing in the game, every team will be made up of one golf player and one person who will have the opportunity in only 15 minutes to learn to play Beach Golf, making use of the new techniques of the Beach Golf Association. There will be 60 caddy girls who will give colour to the event all along the golf course. The spectators can assist at the games from inside the course. Mauro de Marco, who organised the event along with the Albaria, said, “this first tournament in Mondello is also a test, in view of a possible tournament that could be held on the beach in September, the beach is an excellent location for a tournament of this kind”. In this rich sports program tomorrow at the World Festival on the Beach there will also be the a long distance race from Mondello to Isola delle Femmine with the Catamarans Class A. The long distance race will be a taste of what is to come for these boats in a National race that will be held in Mondello on Saturday and Sunday.
