MARCO ANDREUCCETTI AND PACO WIRZ IN THE LEAD IN
THE OVERALL RANKING AFTER THE FIRST DAY OF RACES. ON THE OLYMPIC TABLE
RS:X BAFFETTI LEADS INFRONT OF THE TWO ATHLETES FROM THE ALBARIA
CASAGRANDE-BAGLIONE
A wind coming from a north-east direction blowing between 8 to 9 knots
baptised the first windsurf races of the World Festival on the Beach
2207, a competition acknowledged at a grade 3 by ISAF.
The first race of the day started at 13:43, just beyond the Lauria Club,
the wind conditions weren’t easy for the athletes from the Mistral, RS:X
and Techno Class. Only a few times did the wind reach 11-12 knots,
making the athletes hardly coast, so much that it was decided to make
the race course smaller. In the first race Paco Wirz on a Mistral Panam
was the swiftest of the lot, he was followed by Marco Andreuccetti (Sicilian
Sailing Club) also on a Mistral Panam.
The first athletes on the RS:X, were, Dario Baffetti (Fregene Sailing
Club), followed by Marco Baglione (Albaria) and Andrea Beverino
(Aeronautica Militare).
The second race didn’t change in weather conditions, it was nearly the
same as the first one.
This time in the lead was Andreuccetti, followed by Wirz e Giuseppe
Castelli (Costa Ponente). On the Olympic table RS:X, Baffetti was in
front of everybody, with Marco Casagrande (Albaria) and Emanuele
Arciprete (LNI Civitavecchia) behind him.
With these weather conditions the judges decided that two races were
enough and sent everyone back to the shore claiming that the races for
the day were finished.
After two races the overall Mistral results see Andreuccetti and Wirz in
the lead with the Algerian Ziani Abdelhamid behind them.
In the RS:X ranking, Dario Baffetti comes before the two athletes from
the Albaria, Casagrande and young Marco Baglione, who is also the best
youth in the Olympic class.
Between the Techno 293 the leader of the results is Giorgia Avara, who
is two points ahead of Annie Nuccio and 4 points ahead of Sebastian
Costa.
Tomorrow at 13.00 they will be back in the water for more races at the
World Festival on the Beach, whilst the RS:X Olympic Class will be
dedicated to the third round of the National Circuit that follows on
from the races held at Marsala and Igea Marina.
