MARCO ANDREUCCETTI CONTINUES TO LEAD THE OVERALL
RANKING OF THE WORLD FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH, BAFFETTI IS IN THE LEAD OF
THE RS:X BAFFETTI, WITH TWO ATHLETES FROM PALERMO BEHIND CASAGRANDE E
ALBERTI
Today only two races were held for the windsurf athletes in their second
day of races of the World Festival on the Beach, a grade 3 competition
ISAF.
The wind wasn’t so strong with 7-8 knots, but however allowed the
athletes which are more than 50 to line up at the starting line of the
race course set up in Mondello’s gulf not far away from the beach,
allowing the many spectators and sunbathers to watch the most
interesting phases of the race under the sun in Mondello.
In the first race there was Giuseppe Castelli (Costa Ponente), who was
in front of Marco Andreuccetti (Sicilian Sailing Club) – on a Mistral
Panam table – and the Algerian Ziani Abdelhamid racing on a Mistral One
Design like his co-nationals Hassen Hadef and Djella Abdelafif, who came
in at fourth and fifth place.
The first RS:X to complete the race was Dario Baffetti (Fregene Sailing
Club), he was also first yesterday amongst the Olympic tables and
already winner of two national races held at Marsala and Igea Marina.
Behind him were Guido Carli (C.N. Bordighera) and Marco Casagrande (Albaria).
After the first race the second race began with similar conditions to
the first one, with Hassan Hadef in a duel between the one design and
the Panman came before Andreuccetti and Castelli.
In the RS:X race casagrande was 8th taking over and leaving behind
Alessandro Alberti (Albaria) and Michal Scalet (A.V. Lago Caldano).
In the general results of the World Festival on the Beach after four
races sees Marco Andreuccetti in the lead followed by Giuseppe Castelli
and Paco Wirz who didn’t take part in the first race, discarding it,
remains to be amongst those at the top of the classification.
In the RS:X results Dario Baffetti remains in front of the Albaria’s
athletes Marco Casagrande and Alessandro Alberti.
Amongst the young athletes on the Techno Table 293 Giorgia Avara (albaria)
and Enrico Piccone (Lauria) battled against each other closely followed
by Annie Nuccio (Albaria) who is still battling for first place.
Tomorrow is the last day of races, scheduled to begin at 12:00.
