THE CUBANS ALVAREZ AND MUNDER WIN THE MONDELLO CUP
GREECE BEATEN IN THE FINALS, THE ITALIANS GALLI/FENILI FOURTH

In the end Cuba won. Alvarez and Munder had to bring out all the strength they had.  In the finals the two Greeks Michalopoulos and Xenakis made it a tough game for the Cubans.  It was a tournament that offered a match at a high level, in a great location such as the beach at Mondello.  It couldn’t have been a better game of beach volley, which awarded the Mondello Cup 2007 of the World Festival on the Beach.  Tourists and sunbathers filled up the beach in Mondello on a lovely sunny Sunday and had the chance to watch the matches, who were implicated in the event by the determination of the speaker Gianchy.

Two sets to nil were the final points made by Alvares and Munder in the final match this afternoon.  With partial points of 21/15 and 21/17 which proves the determination that the two Greek athletes had against the Cuban favourites.   In the morning there was beautiful match between the Brazilians Paulao and Coelho against the Greeks Michalopoulos and Xenakis, who then played against the Cubans in the finals.

The Greeks went through to the finals with a match won to 2 sets to 1, obtained with determination, taking advantage of a few errors made by the strong Brazilian players.

In the finals for third place the Italians Galli/Fenili played, they played a great match against the Brazilians Paulao and Coelho.  Two sets were won by the Brazilians with 21/18 and 20/22.  The audience were enjoying the match, and who were divided between the Brazilians popularity and the need to cheer on the Italians.  The Italian team, Fabio Galli and Riccardo Fenili made it no further than fourth place.

The athletes were awarded in the closing ceremony.  The prizes were carried out by the Magic Company from Palermo.
