ROBERTO CASADEI FROM ROME WINS THE CATAMARAN CLASS A NATIONAL RACE

With the last three races held today the Catamaran Class A National Race finished, at the event the World Festival on the Beach.  A light wind blowing at 6-7 knots, let the 13 catamarans participating start their race in Mondello’s bay.  The race is valid for qualifying for the European Championships.  There were five races held in all, including those held yesterday.  The final results were revolutionised with a race discarded by Roberto Casadei (C.V Cesenatico), who had two firsts and a third place in today’s races.  He won three out of five races.

It wasn’t a good day for Manuel Vaccari, from the Piemont region, he was in the lead up until yesterday with a second and fourth place, he fought all the way until the end but had to give up for just two points.

Vaccari came to Mondello with a technology jewel, a Moth, he won right in front of Casadei, the Long Distance race which was held on Friday.  On the podium of the Class A National Races there were also Luigi Blancato (C.V Ortigia), the only athlete from Palermo in the race, and Gaetano Pennino who is a member of the Fides Time Club. And it was Pennino who won the regional races held last Sunday.  Following in the classification were Marco Gaeti (A.V. Bracciano), president of the National Class, and Franco Niggler (A.N.S: Clusane).
