A SUCCESS IN THE COMBINATION FOR GIUSEPPE MARRA WITH “FILO DA TORCERE” BELONGING TO UGO SALMERI WHO WINS FOR THE SECOND YEAR RUNNING

Sailing and Golf were brought together once again at the World Festival on the Beach.  With a lot of interest from keen sportsmen, the second edition of the sailing/golf combination saw Ugo Salmeri and Giuseppe Marra’s  “Filo da Torcere” , Marra is a teacher at the Villa Airoldi Golf Club, who was awarded the skin game yesterday at the golf course in Palermo.
For Ugo Salmeri’s boat it was the second time a winner in the sailing/golf combination after winning last year.   Luca Marra from Turin was aboard Salvatore Cucciardi’s “Fata Turchina”, caught up in the Palermo – Mondello sprint race which was held this morning, taking second place.  Third place for the Goffredo La Loggia’s “Betsabea” with the golf player Felice Crotti, while the fourth position went to Gaetano Marchese’s “Filomena” and the golf player Marco Giraudo.  For the second year running the golf players have participated in a spectacular sailing race valid as the second round of the Spring Championships.

22 boats took off from the harbour at Arenella, heading towards Mondello for the first race with a light wind blowing of 4-5 knots.  Some of the best Sicilian specialists were amongst those participating in the Spring Championships.   The presence of the golf player Giuseppe Marra didn’t distract at all Ugo Salmieri and his team aboard “Filo da Torcere”, thanks to the World Festival on the Beach, a few authentic specialists have been discovered in the sailing/golf races.
For “Filo da Torcere” it was a good win in the Palermo-Mondello sprint, in front of “Fata Turchina”, Salvatore Cucciardi, with aboard the professional Luca Marra, the boat “Extasi”  Giulio Caiozzo, then “Otaria”, Verri and “Parsifal”, Carlo Di Fede’s boat.
