ANDREUCCETTI WINS AT THE
WORLD FESTIVAL ON THE BEACH 2007, COMING BEFORE WIRZ AND CASTELLI. MARCO
CASAGRANDE ON THE RS:X AWARDED THE THIRD ROUND OF THE THIRD ROUND OF THE
ITALIAN CUP OLYMPIC CLASS Today the wind was also weak, blowing no more than 7 knots in an eastern direction, it wasn’t an easy race due to the weather conditions, the wind began to decrease therefore making the judges send the athletes back ashore waiting for the wind conditions to improve, which didn’t happen. Only one race was held with Paco Wirz commanding, with the Algerian Ziani Abdelhamid behind him and Giuseppe Castelli (Costa Ponente). Following them came in Marco Casagrande (Albaria) on the RS:X table, with this result he is the first in the ranking dedicated to the Olympic Table, leaving behind Dario Bafffetti (Fregene Vela Club). In all the five races held from Friday, in the Sicily Grand Prix results, open to all tables and sails, the winner was Marco Andreuccetti, with Wirz and Castelli , second and third place on the podium. An important signal behind the first three Mistral Panam tables was the Mistral One Design tables made up of the Ziani Abdelhamid and Hassen Hadef from Algeria in fourth and fifth place, and Dario Pasta (Albaria) sixth, followed by another Algerian Djell Abdelafif. The World Festival on the Beach was an important race for the North Africans, for the preparation of the African Games which will be held in July in Algeria. Exactly a year ago at the World Festival on the Beach with the victory of the Mistral European Championships Marco Casagrande wins again, this time on the new Olympic table RS:X, making it to the top of the ranking dedicated to the World Festival on the Beach and also the ranking that’s valid as third round of the Italian Cup. In the first results Marco Casagrande left Dario Baffetti and Andrea Beverino behind, whilst in the second results from Saturday and Sunday, Guido Carli (C.N. Bordighera) and Baffetti completed the podium.
In the World Festival on
the Beach results concerning the Mistral One Design, it was a victory
for Algeria with Ziani Abdelhamid, first and Hassan Hadef, second, third
place went to Dario Pasta from Palermo. Enrico Piccone (Lauria) was awarded the Techno 293 category, who was always amongst the first to finish from the first day of the races, Annie Nuccio and Giorgia Avara both from the Albaria came in behind him. The athletes were awarded during the closing ceremony at the World Festival on the Beach by prizes from Magic Company from Palermo.
